The Arcade for Good was started because some local Iowa City arcade game enthusiasts wanted to build interest in having a local arcade in the Iowa City area. As a test pilot to an eventual permanent commercial arcade, the idea was presented to partner with current businesses who could help with a venue.

Thanks need to be said to a great number of people who have contributed to this event including Mike Oehlerich, Kevin Shannon, Danny Standley and all the staff at Big Grove Taproom in Iowa City, Andrew Shelburne and Rebecca Fons at FilmScene, as well as many other individuals who have given advice and helped promote the event.
